Here’s a look at how our Fall Sports are shaping up as we hit the midway point in September:

 

Girls Volleyball won their Bay League opener with an exciting 3-2 win on the road at El Segundo on 9/10.  The team is currently 14-2 overall and 1-0 in the Bay League and were ranked #32 in the Southern Section in the initial rankings last week.

 

Girls Flag Football has already eclipsed their win total for the past 3 years combined by racing out to a perfect 6-0 start, with 5 of those wins in Pioneer League play.  The Spartans continue the second half of league play this week, hosting West Torrance.

 

Girls Golf joins Girls Flag Football as another of our undefeated teams, currently with a perfect 5-0 match play record.  The Spartans early season success does not stop there – they also posted the lowest scores both days of the 2026 Torrance Cup Tournament, outpacing the other 3 TUSD schools at Alondra and Los Verdes.

 

Girls Tennis prepares for Pioneer League play with a tough non-league schedule, which included a road win at Torrance HS a week ago before the weather wiped out their matches last week.  The Spartans enter this week with a record of 1-1 and will be busy with 3 consecutive non-league matches Tuesday through Thursday.

 

Boys Water Polo dropped their first match of the year, but have not looked back after rattling off seven consecutive wins to improve to 7-1 on the year.  The Spartans open Pioneer League play next week, with one more non-league tune-up this week on the road at San Pedro.

 

Boys and Girls Cross Country have hit the ground running with impressive showings at their first four meets.  The Varsity Boys placed 3rd in the Showcase race at the Rosemead Invite, while the Girls took 6th in their race.  Both teams have a few more tune-up races before the Pioneer League Meet on 10/6.

 

Football and Friday Night Lights are off to a strong start, with the Spartans coming into Week 4 with a 2-2 overall record.  The Spartans continue their non-league slate with 2 straight home games vs Adelanto and West HS, before coming out of the bye week in the new look Ocean League.
