Anyone participating at any level of sport at South High School must:

– Tryout or be added to the team by a coach.

– Complete the Athletic Clearance. Information on requirements and directions for the process can be found under the Registration Tab on this website.

– Be in good academic standing and meet all academic requirements. This includes the following under TUSD Board Policy 6145:
a. Athletes must be legally enrolled and progressing toward meeting graduation requirements.
b. Athletes are expected to enroll in six classes and are ineligible if they drop below five classes (with the exception of seniors who may be enrolled in 5 courses).
c. Athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in all classes for the quarter completed prior to each season. Weighted GPA’s do not count for eligibility reasons.
d. Athletes may have no more than one (1) unsatisfactory grade in citizenship for the quarter completed prior to the season and throughout the season.
e. These academic and citizenship standards must be maintained each quarter (10 week period) to stay eligible.

– Be eligible under all CIF Rules and Regulations including, but not limited to, following the CIF Code of Conduct and CIF Transfer eligibility (if applicable).

– Understand and follow all school and team policies with regard to conduct, attitude and proper training habits

Students who do not meet these standards may be removed from their sport (either in or out of season) until these requirements are met at the next official grading period.

For more information, please see both the Parent and Student Athletic Handbooks, which are part of the clearance process.
